Basic knowledge of Top Seal Foil for Tubes

1. Main applications of top seal foil

There are many types of top seal foil, and Jiben packaging focuses on top seal foil for tubes. The top seal foil for tubes produced by our company are mainly used in toothpaste tubes, cosmetic tubes, hand cream tubes, shoe polish tubes, curing agent tubes, food and drug tubes, etc.

2. Types of Top seal foil

There are two main types of top seal foil, sealing foil for PE tube and sealing foil for PP tube. It is mainly based on the existing types of cosmetic tubes and toothpaste tubes on the market. The base film is made of PE or PP respectively to better achieve heat sealing with PE tubes and PP tubes.

In the market, seal foil for PE tube with the 98% of the market share, and PP type only 2%. About 95% top seal foil for PE tube are Easy-peel Top Seal Foil, which are widely used in toothpaste tubes, cosmetic tubes, etc.; the rest are permanent sealing foil, which is hard to tear, mainly used in curing agent products and shoe polish etc.

At the same time, according to different barrier materials, our top seal foil are also divided into two types: Aluminum foil as barrier or EVOH as barrier layer, which can meet the demands of different types of customers in the market.

3. Quality requirements for sealing foil products

1. High barrier: water and oxygen resistant

2. Cannot be layered: the laminate strength between different material layers of the sealing foil should theoretically be ≥ 2.5N/15mm. At present, the peel strength of Jiben packaging is basically 5~15N.

5. Sealing temperature and speed

There are many kinds of sealing equipment on the market, with different temperatures and speeds. Generally speaking, the existing sealing method on the market is mainly hot pressure sealing. The sealing temperature of the heat sealing machine is 160℃~320℃, and the speed is 40 ~120 pieces/min.

Most hot-press sealing equipment in China has a temperature of 180~220℃ and a sealing speed of 60~80 pieces/min. The European fully automatic sealing speed can reach 100~120 pieces/min. Due to the high speed, heat sealing must be achieved quickly in a short time, and the corresponding sealing temperature is relatively high.

6. Specifications

(1) Thickness: The thickness of notebook packaging hose sealing film ranges from 65um to 180um, of which 90 to 120um is the main thickness. At the same time, we have developed 65 to 85um thick top seal foil according to the needs of foreign customers.

(2) Width: 15mm, 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 25mm, 28mm, 30mm, 32mm, 35mm

(3) Self adhesive aluminum foil sticker: The current existing diameter is 8/9/10/11/12/13/15/18/19mm
